Casa Vista
Unique touches and glamorous fittings.
In the beautiful scenes high in the hills in Northern New South Wales, we stepped outside the status quo as we debunked the traditional rules and brought together a kitchen that is 'tailor made" to the owner’s wishes. Lifestyle Joinery was contracted to design the space, manufacture & new custom cabinetry, bench tops, splash backs and installation of quality appliances.
We broke all of the rules as you will soon discover!
- Remember the working triangle - Think back to the kitchens in the past and the working triangle was all the rage. These days, the kitchen is increasingly integrated into the living space and is required to be functional for more than one person at a time. Creating the double Island benches allowed separate cooking and cleaning zones.
- Mood Lighting - Traditional ultra bright overhead lighting is a sure way to ruin a relaxed mood! Replace the "7-Eleven" effect by directing light exactly where it is needed. Good cabinet lighting combined with natural skylights and downlights are definite winners.
- Follow a Universal Design - The buzz in kitchens these days is about personalisation. Using the "Blum Dynamic Space" approach, we incorporated self closing drawers, "no handles" overhead doors, recycle waste bins, cutlery, utensil and spice trays, knife racks and tea towel holders while displaying items such as the solid timber pegged wine rack and open displays for items such as cookbooks, vases & display pieces.
- The Importance of Bench Heights - Bench heights should always be 900mm - the latest kitchen designs are tailored for an exact fit. The bench top should be at hip height and you should be able to reach the bottom of the sink without bending. We have raised the Island benches while keeping the server and back wall benches at a standard height - Giving a great overall effect and functionality.
- Bench tops need to be Man-made - The slick industrial kitchens of the past decade were dominated by stainless steel and engineered stone bench tops - Now, natural products such as solid timber, granite and marble are making a comeback due to their overall appeal and natural beauty.
